Body electrolysis

What the treatment involves

At the consultation the area is discussed and a plan made. Each hair is treated individually: a fine probe slides into the follicle opening, a brief current damages the growth cells and the hair is removed with tweezers. Visit length depends on the size of the area.

Who it suits

People for whom laser did not work or is unsuitable because of light, grey or red hair, and anyone who wants a lasting solution for the underarms, bikini line, legs or arms.

What it feels like

Most people feel a brief tingle or warmth at each hair. Sensitivity depends on the area and the person; a numbing cream can be used if needed.

How long until you see the result

Hair grows in cycles, so several visits are needed. The full result usually takes 12–24 months of regular visits, depending on the area, hormones, hair thickness and how regularly you come.

How electrolysis works123
  1. A very fine probe slides into the natural opening of the follicle beside the hair — the skin is not pierced.
  2. A small current at the base of the follicle damages the growth cells.
  3. The treated hair is lifted out easily with tweezers.
How electrolysis works Each hair is treated individually, so the method works on hair of any colour.

Frequently asked

Is electrolysis permanent?

Yes — electrolysis is officially recognised as a permanent hair removal method, because it destroys the hair follicle. Several visits are still needed, and hormonal changes can later trigger new hair growth.

How is electrolysis different from laser and IPL?

Laser and IPL work through hair pigment, so they suit dark hair best. Electrolysis does not need pigment: the energy goes straight into the follicle.

Can electrolysis help if laser did not?

Often, yes. If laser left light, grey or fine hairs behind, electrolysis can reach exactly those, because hair colour does not matter to it.

Does electrolysis hurt?

Most people feel a brief tingle or warmth at each hair. Sensitivity depends on the area and the person; a numbing cream can be used if needed.

How many sessions will I need, and how long will it take?

The full result usually takes 12–24 months of regular visits, depending on the area, hormones, hair thickness and regularity.
